The origins of Air Seychelles date back to the year 1977 when a merger between Air Mahé as well as Inter-Island Airways helmed by the Government of Seychelles paved the way for Seychelles Airlines. Later, in the year 1978, Seychelles Airlines was renamed Air Seychelles. However, Air Seychelles started offering long-haul services from the year 1983 onwards.
