Ethiopian Airlines (EAL), as Ethopia’s flag airline, is wholly owned by the Ethiopian government. Although EAL was founded on 21st December 1945 under the name Ethiopian Air Lines, the airline started operations on 08th April 1946. This premier air carrier started providing flights to international destinations from the year 1951 onwards. The year 1965 marks the renaming of Ethiopian Air Lines to Ethiopian Airlines after becoming a share company.
