LAM – Mozambique Airlines is the flag air carrier of Mozambique. While its headquarters are traceable to Maputo, its hub is based at Maputo International Airport. LAM – Mozambique Airlines operates scheduled passenger services to various European and African destinations. The Portuguese colonial government of Mozambique established the airline as a charter carrier in the year 1936 under the name Direcção de Exploração de Transportes Aéreos (DETA), which was a division of the Department of Railways, Harbours & Airways under the Portuguese colonial government of Mozambique. However, the year 1980 marks its rebranding to its present name as a result of reorganization. Also, it underwent transformation through the years 1998-1999 as a Limited Company. Flamingo Club is its frequent flyer program, which offers a range of benefits to its loyal clients.
