About Malaysia Airlines
Malaysia Airlines Berhad (or Malaysia Airlines) is the flag air carrier of Malaysia and its headquarters are traced to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The origins of Malaysia Airlines date back to the 1930s when Malayan Airways Limited (MAL) was formed in Singapore; MAL operated its first commercial flight in the year 1947. Following the separation of Singapore in the year 1966, MAL was renamed as Malaysia-Singapore Airlines.
However, in the year 1972, MAL was split to create two different airlines: Malaysian Airline System (MAS) and Singapore Airlines. MAS was renamed Malaysia Airlines Berhad on 1st September 2015.
