About Middle East Airlines
Middle East Airlines – Air Liban S.A.L. (short name is Middle East Airlines (MEA)) is recognized as the national flag airline of Lebanon. In Beirut, the head office of MEA is traced to Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport, and its hub is based at Rafic Hariri International Airport. While MEA was founded on 31st May 1945, it started operating flights from 1st January 1946. Saeb Salam and Fawzi EL-Hoss are the founders of MEA.
The merger between MEA and Air Liban took place on 7th June 1963, following which the airline was renamed as Middle East Airlines – Air Liban. After the merger between both airlines was complete in November 1965, the airline adopted its present name. MEA has been a member of the SkyTeam alliance since 28th June 2012. The international network of MEA extends to Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Cedar Miles is the frequent flyer loyalty program of MEA.

The airline check-in counters are open from 3 hours until 45-60 minutes before departure time. The airport boarding gates are shut 15 minutes before flight departure. At the check-in counter, the airport authorities will direct travelers to produce the requisite travel documents. These include a valid Passport, Visa, Confirmation Reference, among others.
Passengers who want to check in online can do so between 48 hours and 2 hours before flight departure. By checking in online, you can select your seat, purchase additional baggage, and get your boarding pass. Travelers have the option of canceling online check-in up to 2 hours before flight departure. If you fail to board a checked-in flight, the airline cancels your ticket and does not offer the refund option.
As a passenger who requires special assistance, the airline requires them to book such services 48 hours in advance and arrive at the airport 3 hours before the given departure time. For passengers with reduced mobility, MEA provides a wheelchair for no cost. When you request a wheelchair, you have to inform the airline whether you can travel alone. If you’re unable to travel alone, you have to be accompanied by another person. More so, you should inform the airline about the nature of your illness or disability when requesting for a wheelchair. MEA, also, allows travelers to carry their own collapsible wheelchair in the baggage hold for no charge. In addition, the airline provides three types of wheelchairs to meet the different medical needs of passengers.
The airline team is also available to process any of your requests for flight cancellations and refunds. An important point to note is that the airline does not accept passengers for travel if they fail to check-in by the stipulated minimum check-in timings. In such cases, the airline will not entertain any requests for refunds and rebookings.
