United Airlines Seat Selection
United Airlines allows passengers to choose a seat or change their seat assignment in different ways. You can select or change your seat on united.com, via the United app, or through your travel agent. After purchasing a United Airlines flight ticket, you can access the “Manage My Booking” platform to choose your seat online. All fare classes, with the exception of Basic Economy fare, come with the free seat selection service. As a Basic Economy ticketholder, you can purchase a seat between the time of booking and the check-in process. If you do not select your seat in advance, you will be allotted a seat before boarding your flight.
United Flight Cancellations
Flights are canceled for various reasons. In case United Airlines cancels your flight, you have 2 options: accept a rebooking or submit a refund request.
If you want to cancel your flight, you can do so via the “My Trips” platform on the link, https://www.united.com/en/us/manageres/mytrips. Your first step should be to retrieve your flight with your “Confirmation Number” and “Last Name”. Thereafter, go to the “Cancel Flight” link seen at the top of the page and confirm your cancellation. After you cancel your flight, you will be prompted to avail a travel credit or refund. You can use the travel credit to book United Airlines flights. Note, United Airlines charges cancellation fees for refundable tickets if you cancel your flight after the 24-hour grace period.
United Refund Policy
As per your travel fare, United Airlines processes your refund requests. You can cancel your reservation via the “My Trips” link and start the refund process. You can also fill out the refund form available on the link, https://www.united.com/en/us/refunds, to submit your refund request. You will receive a refund in the same currency used for ticket purchases.
Basic Economy ticket holders cannot cancel their ticket after 24 hours from the purchase. They can cancel and obtain a refund only if they cancel within 24 hours of making their reservations. If you have a non-refundable ticket and cancel after the 24-hour grace period, you will receive travel credit to be redeemed for future United Airlines ticket purchases.
In case you are holding a refundable ticket, you can cancel your flight anytime and apply for a refund. You will receive a refund to your original credit card within 7 days from refund application submission. Other refunds are processed by the airline within 20 days of submitting the request.
United Airlines Rebooking
United Airlines allows travelers to change their reservation at no cost if they do so within 24 hours of making their booking and they have purchased their ticket a week or more before scheduled departure. This rule does not apply to Basic Economy ticket holders. Their best option would be to cancel their ticket within the 24-hour window to obtain a full refund and rebook their tickets. Non-refundable ticket holders and refundable ticket holders do not have to pay any fee for any flight changes; they have to only pay the fare difference if they book a more expensive flight. Refundable ticket holders will be refunded the fare difference if they rebook a cheaper flight.
United Check-In Information
The United Airlines online check-in service opens 24 hours before departure time. You can check in online at home or office computer and print your boarding pass. As part of the online check-in process, a link to your boarding pass is sent to your mobile device. You are required to display your boarding pass barcode on your device screen at the security checkpoint upon boarding your flight. You can also check in via the United app to access your boarding pass.
