History
The history of Farnborough Airport goes back to 16th October 1908, when it operated its first powered flight.

During its initial years, the airport served as a military and aviation research base.

Also, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) was the owner of the airport through the two World Wars and the Cold War.

The year 1948 saw Farnborough Airport holds its first Farnborough International Airshow, which takes place every two years.

Farnborough Airport first began civil aviation operations in the year 1989.

Later, in the year 1994, the Government decided to redevelop the airfield as a business aviation center.

Thereafter, in the year 1997, TAG Aviation won the bid to gain control of the airfield; the British Government governed the entire bidding process.

Subsequently, TAG Farnborough Airport Limited, as part of a 99-year lease, took control of the airport in the year 2003. The airport became a CAA-compliant airport for business aviation services as a result.

Also, the airport underwent major developments since the year 2007 after TAG purchased the airfield freehold.

In the year 2019, stakeholders sold their shares to a long-term infrastructure fund controlled by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA). MIRA, which is part of the top-ranking Macquarie Group, is recognized as the largest infrastructure manager globally.
