History

Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 was unveiled on 1st April 1986 by the Prince and Princess of Wales and it was developed at a cost amounting to £200 million. As part of the T4 renovation, an enlarged check-in area with refurbished piers, renovated departure lounges, and revamped baggage system were also added. Other than that, this terminal was fitted with 4 new stands for handling the Airbus A380. Besides, the Departures Forecourt was renovated to enhance security and reduce traffic congestion.

Many internal parts of the terminal also underwent renovation between the years 2009 and 2014. Additionally, a new SkyTeam Alliance passenger lounge for premium passengers was introduced. The Etihad Airways Lounge, Plaza Premium Lounge, and Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge were also added later on.
