About Heathrow Airport Terminal 5

Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport is traceable to its Western side and between the Northern and Southern runways therein, spanning 640 acres of land. This terminal has been equipped to handle about 35 million passengers per year and it was built at a cost of £4 billion over a period of 20 years. With its 50 gates and 3 stands, T5 has been operational since the year 2008. Currently, this terminal is being used only by British Airways and it is the global hub of this flagship airline of the United Kingdom.

While the leading architects of T5 were from Richard Rogers Partnership, its production design was managed by Aviation architects Pascall+Watson. Also, Arup and Mott MacDonald were the engineers of the T5 structure.

History

Even so, as a result of the merger between British Airways and Iberia in the year 2012, Iberia started operating from T5 thereafter and this made Terminal 5 the home of the International Airlines Group. Then, on 12th July 2022, Iberia shifted operations back to Terminal 3.
