About Inverness Airport
Inverness Airport (IATA Name: INV) is located at Dalcross, traceable to the North-Eastern side of the city of Inverness in Scotland in the United Kingdom. Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) is the owner of INV.

This international airport serves as a leading gateway to Inverness and the North part of Scotland. Along with destinations spanning the United Kingdom, Inverness Airport operates scheduled services to various destinations in Continental Europe.

History
It was the Air Ministry that developed the Inverness airfield as a Royal Air Force Station Dalcross (or RAF Dalcross) in the year 1940. The airport also served during the Second World War, housing several units during that time.

After the war ended, Inverness Airport resumed Civil Operations in the year 1947.

INV is part of the Highlands and Islands Network, serving as a hub for air carriers operating flights across the Island, the UK, and many other European destinations.

In the year 2021, HIAL announced its master plan to revamp the airport by the year 2045 to accommodate the increasing number of passengers. Besides extending the runway by more than 1000 feet, a new passenger terminal, which will be situated adjacent to the proposed Inverness Airport Railway Station, will be developed.

Transport
Inverness Airport lies nearly nine miles from the Northeastern part of Inverness. For those travelling by road, the A96 is accessible from the Inverness Airport Way.

Bus services are also available at Inverness Airport, carrying passengers to Inverness City Center, Elgin, and Nairn.

You can also take the Stagecoach Inverness, which operates every 30 minutes, to go to Inverness City Centre or Nairn from Inverness Airport. Thereafter, travellers can take routes to Elgin and Aberdeen.

If you want to travel by railway from Inverness Airport, you can go to Inverness Airport Railway Station situated close by to the airport terminal building. This station serves as a scheduled stop of Scotrail on the Inverness-Aberdeen route. Stagecoach operates the Number 11 bus every 30 minutes, linking the station to the terminal building. Or, you can take the walkway connecting the station to the airport terminal building, which will take about 15 to 20 minutes via walking.

Inverness Airport also has partnered with Inverness Taxis. The taxi zone is situated outside the airport terminal building. You can then reach the City Centre in 20 minutes via taxi.
